AI: helper, not handout

   Artificial intelligence, it is a computer system that is helpful to everyone. Here in the Philippines AI is very helpful especially to students, it can help us with homework, problem-solving, research, and many more, such as healthcare, agriculture, and costumer service.   

  But behind the beauty of AI lies a painful truth. Since students are currently facing workloads from academics and extracurricular activities, they seek a quick solution using AI. This kind of behavior causes a reduction in students critical thinking skills, which can also negatively affect their learning. 

   Yes, AI is meant to help us, but its overuse can lead to dependency and a decline in critical thinking skills. Not just critical thinking skills but also in being independent, relying on AI to write something for you can undermine your confidence in your own abilities and prevent you from developing your unique voice and perspective. 

   To address this issue, we should use AI responsibly and and avoid overuse. We should only use AI for generating ideas and conducting research. If you're having a hard time with an assignment, seek help from a friend or classmates, do not rely solely on AI. 

   One more thing is why rely on AI if it plagiarize other works? Yes, AI can unintentionally plagiarize other works because they cannot truly understand the content they generate. They often copy sentences from other sources like from websites, books, or articles and pasting them as their reply. 

   To stop this, we should use AI as helper not a replacement. Use AI for generating ideas only, not use it to make a whole essay for you just because you're lazy to avoid plagiarism and develop your critical thinking and writing skills. Use your skills in writing to make a compelling essay. 

   Now, my article does not fully reject AI, but what I'm trying to point out is how students overuse it by making it do all the work. Well I get, we have a lot of things to do but sometimes the cause of this is procastination but we can solve this by using time management. Use AI responsibly.
